Superior Arts District Holds Its Own Art Walk

Fri 8/24 & Fri 9/28 @ 5-9PM

There’s a reason the Superior Arts District is called that. While it might not have as many galleries and retail businesses with art on display as Tremont, Waterloo or 78th Street Studios, it’s home to more than 150 working artists in spaces such as the Tower Press Building, Lake Affect Studio and the Artcraft Building. Every so often, one of them will have an open house, a holiday sale or a bazaar of some type.

But for a couple of upcoming Fridays, the various buildings and businesses scattered along Superior from E. 19th to the Inner Belt are getting together for Avenue of the Arts Superior, with art exhibits, open studios, interactive art activities, live music and food trucks.

The Artcraft Building will host a curated pop-up show of 16 artists from the Artcraft and Heller buildings, taking place in Gallery 403. There’ll be raffles prizes including restaurant gift cards, original art and accessories from Guitar Riot, whose business is in the building.

Around the corner on E. 25th, Lake Affect Studios will have an artist market and open studios on the first floor, with music by DJ Eso from 5-7pm with live music by Smokescreen from 8-9pm outside in the courtyard. The Fired Up Taco Truck will be there and the bar will be open as well.

The artists who live and work in the Tower Press Building will be mounting another showing of their work in the ground floor Wooltex Gallery, called A Closer Look: Exploring the Artists at Tower Press. Most of them will probably be hanging out there to meet visitors.

In addition, the Cleveland Print Room in the Artcraft Building and Hot Cards just up Superior will be open for visitors. It’s all free.
