Two Nights and 65 Performers Make up Nerdlesque at the Kent Stage

Fri 11/22 & Sat 11/23 @ 8PM

It’s only the second year for the Midwest Nerdlesque Festival. But the event has grown like a beautiful weed, now featuring more than 65 performers over two nights at the Kent Stage.

It features a mix of local performers well known to local audiences and visiting artists appearing in northeast Ohio for the first time. Friday’s headliner is Bazuka Joe (pictured), a member of Chicago’s Stage Door Johnnies. On Saturday, Toronto’s Babia Majora, co-producer/host of F*ck Shit Up, a monthly trans/nonbinary cabaret. Featured performers include drag king Spikey Van Dykey, gender-bending burlesque/drag artist Verna Vendetta, and Delhi Marquette, co-founder of Moonstruck Burlesque in the unlikely location of Athens, Ohio.

So what’s “Nerdlesque” all about? In a nutshell, it runs burlesque, drag and variety performances through the filter of “nerd” pop culture, where performers adopt personas taken from movies, television, movies, comic books and video games, among other sources. Could be Harry Potter, could be Star Wars, could be Si and Am from Lady & the Tramp —you never know!

Tickets range from $20-$40. Go here to purchase Go here for more info.
