Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens Opens for the Season with “Lasting Impressions” Theme

Tue 4/2

Akron landmark Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens opens its gates for the season this week, just ahead of the trees blossoming on its lush grounds.

Its 2019 theme is “Lasting Impressions,” and it’s dedicated to Gertrude Seiberling who, with her husband, Goodyear co-founder F.A. Seiberling, built the estate between 1912 and 1915. It focuses on her passion for painting with many of her original paintings on display in the Manor House, some owned by Stan Hywet and others, seldom seen, on loan from family members. Later in the season, from June-September, enlarged versions of some of her iconic canvasses will be on display outdoors in the gardens, along with sculptures inspired by the paintings created by local artists in FUSED: Garden Gallery of Art & Metal.

Visitors this season will find enhanced information on the Manor House self-guided tours. Stan Hywet Hall & Garden is open Tuesday-Sunday 10am-6pm wth last admission at 4:30.
