Thu 3/7 @ 7:30PM

Fri 3/8 & Sat 3/9 @ 8PM

Sun 3/10 @ 4PM

Apollo’s Fire, Cleveland’s Grammy-winning baroque orchestra, returns with a sequel to last year’s “Three Duels and a Wedding” program with “Three Duels and a Funeral,” which they describe as taking “a darker turn… sort of.”

The program includes two quadruple concertos by Antonio Vivaldi, one featuring four violins, the other two violins and two cellos; two more Vivaldi pieces, his Flute Concerto in D, “Il Gardellino” (The Goldfinch) and La Folia (“Madness”), after the Trio Sonata in D Minor; J.S. Bach’s Brandenberg Concert No. 3 in G Minor; and the funeral — Georg Philipp Telemann’s “Funeral Cantata for an Artistically Trained Canary-Bird Whose Demise Brought the Greatest Sorrow to His Master,” featuring baritone Jeffrey Strauss.

Violin soloists include Susanna Perry Gilmore, Carrie Krause, Johanna Novom and Adriane Post; cello soloists are René Schiffer and Rebecca Landell Reed.

Performances take place at the First United Methodist Church in Akron on Thursday, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights on Friday and Saturday, and Rocky River Presbyterian Church on Sunday.

Tickets start at $22.
