Cleveland Public Theatre Debuts New Partnership With Arabic-Speaking Community

Fri 11/30 & Sat 12/1 @ 6PM

One of many things Cleveland Public Theatre is known for is its outreach — its collaborations with different organizations and communities.

It’s debuting a new one, with the Arabic-speaking community, as it has partnered with Masrah Cleveland Al-Arabi to offer a workshop production called Dream of Home, created by the performers, along with CPT’s executive artistic director Raymond Bobgan and Director of Community Ensembles Faye Hargate.

The work-in-progress, they says, “is about how we remember, seek, and create home, celebrating connections to our past heritage and sharing culture with the broader community,” and features Masrah Cleveland Al-Arabi artists sharing their own stories. It’s a bilingual production, in both Arabic and English.

The audience is invited to be an integral part of the event. The evening opens at 6pm in CPT’s Storefront Studio with food from Kan Zaman and live music by Danny LaHood before heading into the James Levin Theatre for the performance. Afterward, the audience is invited to join the ensemble and advisory committee in the Cabaret Space for more live music (the Tony Mikhael Band on Friday and DJ Georgie playing Middle Eastern music on Saturday), dancing and dessert.

Tickets are $15.
