Cleveland Jazz Sax Player Bobby Selvaggio Records Live Album at the BOP STOP

Fri 4/12 @ 8PM

Like many native Cleveland jazz musicians, sax player Bobby Selvaggio spent some time in New York City where he went to earn his masters degree at the Manhattan School of Music. But he was eventually drawn back to his hometown, where he heads on of the area’s many fine jazz programs, the one at Kent State where he earned his bachelors degree.

In addition to being an educator, composer and arranger, he continues to be a very active working musician, playing not only soprano sax, but also clarinet and flute. He’s got half a dozen albums in his catalog, mostly recently Quantum Man on dot Records in 2016.

He’s getting ready to do another for Dot, a live album he’s recording at the BOP STOP. He’ll be supported by three of the area’s topnotch jazz musicians: pianist Theron Brown, bassist Paul Thompson and drummer Zaire Darden. And throughout the evening, he’ll be bringing some special guests onstage, including guitarist Dan Wilson, Tommy Lehman on flugelhorn, Liz Carney on clarinet, Summer Canter on bassoon and Kent Larmee on horn.

Admission is $15.
