SPACES’ annual Monster Drawing Rally is a big artists’ party to which everyone is invited. More than 100 artists sign up for a one-hour shift where they create artwork on the spot, as visitors browse the room and observe the artists at work, identifying identify pieces they like. As each piece is finished, artists hand it to runners to hang on the wall where buyers rush to be the first to claim their favorites for $75 each.
Artists include some of the area’s most accomplished and respected veterans as well as promising students, and everything in between. You ever know what you’ll see up on the wall for sale. Plus the evening is a great hangout, a chance for artists to catch up with each other and art lovers to meet the artists.
There’s also a Li’l Monster Drawing Rally for families, a DJ spinning dance music, snacks, a cash bar and a chance to spin the Blick Art Materials Prize Wheel. Admission is $10, free for SPACES season pass members and kids 17 and under.
