Les Delices Presents “Fortepiano Day” at Plymouth Church

Sat 9/29 @ 10:30AM

Cleveland-based baroque ensemble Les Delices opens its season with a paean to the 18th-century fortepiano. Pianist Sylvia Perry will take those in attendance on a journey that begins at 10:30am with a lecture-demonstration on the history of the piano, featuring the music of Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven on the piano as they would have played it.

At 11:30, “Scratch & Sniff” will let pre-college students try out different pianos to hear the differences in sound, color, articulation and expression.

At 1:15 pm, Berry will hold a pre-concert conversation talking about women who played the piano, as well as women who commissioned and inspired important solo piano works. The 2pm concert will focus on works by Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, and J.C. Bach.  The day wraps up with a post-concert conservation at 3:15pm with fortepiano builder Dale Munschy, sharing how the instrument works.

Tickets are $20.
