Double Bill at Riverdog Barn Features Two Michigan Americana Bands

The Accidentals

Sun 6/10 @ 7:30PM

It’s a big night at Oberlin’s Riverdog Barn, with a pair of Michigan bands, each of whom is a headliner there in their own right.

“Sometimes it pays off to book a Sunday show!” say the Riverdog folks. “Both of these bands are in high demand and we would probably not be able to book them on a Friday or Saturday night…let alone together!”

The Accidentals are a trio out of Traverse City, Michigan, who play a likable blend of roots/folk/indie music, wrapped up in energetic rock. The young band was formed in 2012 by violinist Savannah Buist and cellist Katie Larson who met while they were playing in their high school orchestra. They released their debut album that same year. They followed it with 2013’s Bittersweet, an EP in 2016, and a third full-length, Odyssey, in 2017. The eclectic band now includes drummer/percussionist Michael Dause.

Lindsay Lou & the Flatbellies burst out of Ann Arbor with a sound they describe as “Michigan Americana.” The four musicians met at open mics and festivals around Michigan before coming together to form the band in 2009. Since then, they’ve performed at festivals from California to Virginia, Scotland to Germany, pulling together a host of different sounds from blues to bluegrass to jazz to folk to old-time to rock. They showcase their sound on their newly released album, Southland.

Admission is $17 at the door, $5 for students. For table reservations call 440-935-2248. Lorenzo’s wood-fired pizza will be onsite with $9 pies, but you are always welcome to bring your picnic basket and cooler.
