Playwrights Local’s Playwriting Festival Is a Day of Readings, Workshops and Performances

Sat 9/29 @ 11AM

Playwrights Local, whose mission is to encourage and produce work by local writers, returns with its 4th annual Playwrights Festival.

It takes place at the Creative Space at Waterloo Arts in the Waterloo Arts District and offers a day of workshops, panels, readings and performances, geared for teens and adults. It kicks off at 11am with a workshop called “The Sherlock Project,” led by Eric Schmeidl. It’s described as “a creative exercise that seeks to find new ways of collaborating and innovating through the process of exploration and discovery.”

A 1pm panel addresses writing plays that get produced, followed by staged readings, a webcast screening, performances and talkbacks. It closes at 9pm with six ten-minute plays chosen from submissions.

The entire event is free, and no registration is needed.
