For Black History Month — February — the Rock Hall Library and Archives has been hosting a traveling exhibit called King Records: Thirty Years That Changed American Music | 1943-1973, about the Cincinnati-based label that started releasing country (“hillbilly”) music in the mid ’40s, and eventually also produced rockabilly and “race” records by artists such as Joe Tex, Ivory Joe Hunter and the mighty James Brown. It will be open through the summer by appointment.
But to close the month, the Library & Archives will have an official dedication for the exhibit, with a live interview with 1997 Rock Hall inductee Bootsy Collins. Tickets are $15.00, which includes hors d’oeuvres and a drink ticket following the interview.
