Fri 9/28 @ 8PM
Richie Stearns and Rosie Newton both have classical music backgrounds although Stearns was playing banjo by the time he was in his teens and Newton was playing fiddle. She later toured with the folk group the Mammals and met Stearns, who had performed with the likes of Pete Seeger, David Byrne, Natalie Merchant, Joan Baez and Bill Bragg, at a festival. They clicked.
As a duo, they bring their interest in classic, old-time, Celtic, bluegrass and folk together to create their own special blend of folk Americana. They’ve released two albums together, including last year’s Nowhere in Time.
They’ll be performing at Peninsula’s G.A.R. Hall as part of its Voices in the Valley series. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door. They’ll also be doing workshops on Sat 9/29. Go here for information on that.
