Cleveland Jazz Orchestra Holiday Concerts Feature Flutist Holly Hofmann

Fri 12/16 @ 7:30PM

Sat 12/17 @ 8PM

Sun 12/18 @ 2PM

The Cleveland Jazz Orchestra takes its show all over northeast Ohio this weekend, performing some holiday music in its own style, some new arrangements by CJO members of progressive jazz compositions and a few crowd-pleasers from the Great American Songbook.

And they’ll be bringing a special guest with them for these performances: jazz flute player Holly Hofmann, who cut her teeth of Great American Songbook standards when she was just 5, went on to study classical music, and by the 80s had become one of the few women instrumentalists at the top of the jazz world. And while she’s sent a majority of her adult live based on the west coast, she was born and raised in northeast Ohio and has a degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music, a stone’s throw from where CJO will open the serious at the Maltz Performing Arts Center on Friday. They’re calling the shows “Home for the Holly-Days” in her honor.

They’ll bring it to BLU Jazz+ in Akron on Saturday and the Lorain Palace Theatre on Sunday. Go here for more information.
