Lakewood’s Front Porch Concerts Kick Off With Becky Boyd & the Groove Train

Fri 6/22 @ 7PM

The Lakewood Front Porch concert series gets going this week on the “porch” outside the main branch of the Lakewood Public Library. It’s a chance to hang out with friends, family and neighbors, catch some music and explore downtown Lakewood.

Becky Boyd & the Groove Train kick it off with their rockin’ blues, fueled by Boyd’s big, punchy vocals. She’s been active in the local music scene for 40 years, performing with both bands and as a solo acoustic act, usually in ensembles with a blues influence. She’s collaborated with a long list of top local musicians including blues guitarist Tim Matson, guitarist/trumpeter/vocalist/songwriter Kristine Jackson and her own daughter, singer/songwriter Claudia Miller. But the Groove Train — featuring drummer Jim Wall, guitarist Alfredo Guerrieri and keyboard player Chris Hanna — is a relatively new project, just three-and-a-half years old.

Bring blankets, chairs and snacks. If it rains, the show goes on inside the library. The series runs for 12 weeks from 7-9pm. It’s free.
