Lighten Up With Holiday Lantern Tours at Hale Farm in Bath

Sat 12/1 @ 5:30PM

Imagine going around at night, lantern in hand, in an American community, watching friends and neighbors in their nightly lives and holiday-season routines.

But in Hale Farm & Village, maintained by the Western Reserve Historical Society as a piece of “living history” in the Cuyahoga Valley, it’s the premise of the popular annual Lantern Tours.

Visitors stroll after sunset throughout “Wheatfield Village” circa 1863, in a 90-minute self-lit tour of old homesteads celebrating Christmas during the Civil War, with audience-participation re-enactors doing a running narrative. It ends with a party featuring cookies and hot cocoa.

On tour nights the MarketPlace at Hale Farm sells handcrafted, made-on-site Hale gifts, Ohio wines, and other works by local artisans.

After the December 1 opening, the additional nights for Lantern Tours are 12/7, 12/8, 12/14, 12/15, 12/16, 12/17, 12/19 and 12/23.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for members and $12 for childrenĀ ages 3-12, group rates are available for 10 or more adults.
