“Lake Erie Starts Here” Stenciling with Doan Brook Watershed Partnership

Sat 6/15 @ 9:30AM

Have you ever seen “Lake Erie Starts Here” stenciled near storm drains? Those don’t magically appear — they are the product of large volunteer efforts organized by groups like Doan Brook Watershed Partnership.

In the first stenciling of the season, volunteers will paint the town on Sat 6/15 @ 9:30am-12:30pm. Volunteers parking lot off East 86th between Hough Multipurpose Center and Thurgood Marshall Rec Center at 9:30am for a quick demonstration on the stenciling process and to distribute materials. Volunteers and groups will then go out and mark up the Doan Brook Watershed around the Hough and St. Clair-Superior neighborhoods.

The messages serve as a reminder that the lake is all around us – contaminants from the motor oil, fertilizers, and pesticides flow into our waterways from storm runoff. Information about the signage will also be distributed to neighborhood residents. Individuals, families, and organizations such as scouts, school or church groups, neighborhood associations and service clubs are welcome to sign up.
