Baltimore Folk/Americana Duo the Honey Dewdrops Is Back at Peninsula’s G.A.R. Hall

Fri 10/12 @ 8PM

Husband-and-wife duo Kagey Parrish and Laura Wortman comprise the Honey Dewdrops, whose music is both appealingly earthy and deeply insightful and thoughtful.

Using stunning close vocal harmonies and such instruments as mandolin, guitar and clawhammer banjo, their music is grounded in the folk styles of Appalachia, reflecting their roots in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains (they currently live in Baltimore). But they infuse some blues and even a bit of pop sensibility, and they deal with the modern-day realities facing such bucolic areas: for instance, they cast an unflinching eye at the destructive impact of mountaintop removal coal mining in their tune “Hills of my Home,” from their 2012 album Silver Lining.

2015’s Tangled Country is the latest addition to their catalogue, featuring 10 tunes penned by the duo, the first recorded in their new home base of Baltimore.

Their fall tour brings them back to their “home” in northeast Ohio — Peninsula’s G.A.R. Hall. Tickets are $15 in advance, $2 day of show.
