Cleveland Heights Rocks & Waters Program Offers Historical & Current Look at Heights Topography

Sat 10/5 @ 10AM-1PM

Sun 10/6 @ noon-4PM

Coventry PEACE Park will be the site of a two-day environmental education program called Cleveland Heights Rocks & Waters, sponsored by Bluestone Heights and Doan Brook Watershed Partnership. It will focus primarily on the geography and topography of Cleveland Heights, its pre-historic gullies and streams and what remains of them today.

On Sat 10/5 @ 10m-1pm Dr. Roy Larick leads a bus/walking tour featuring the sandstone gulches on Doan, Dugway and Nine Mile creeks. It leaves from Coventry PEACE Park, and seating is limited, so advance registration is a must. There’s a $10 fee.

On Sun 10/6 @ noon-2pm, six local stakeholders, including Doan Brook Watershed Partnership, Bluestone Heights, Friends of Lower Lake, the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District, the Cleveland Heights Historical Society and Noble Neighbors, will do a presentation on “Re-balancing the human-nature equation toward nature’s benefit,” followed by a Q&A and light refreshments. It’s free and open to all.

Finally also on Sun 10/6 @ 2-4pm, Sunday, Dr. Larick hosts a facilitated public discussion on “Whither Heights waterways?” Event includes a light meal and requires advance registration.
