Hale Farm and Village’s annual Sow & Grow Festival celebrates one aspect of its re-creation of 19th-century pioneer life in Ohio: the beginning of the growing season. During the event you can not only tour the reconstructed buildings and working farm with sheep, chickens and oxen, and see demonstrations of trades such as spinning, weaving and blacksmithing, which are open every weekend, but you can also browse the annual plant sale hosted by the Citizens of Hale group. They’ll be offering historic and heirloom annuals, perennials and herbs, some of them the varieties those early Ohio settlers would’ve planted. Café 1810 and marketplace will also be open during the festival.
