The mission of Western Reserve Chorale, founded in 1992, is to offer high-quality performances of vocal music throughout Northeast Ohio — for free. More than 100 vocalists with varying amounts of musical experience take part in performing choral standards from across multiple centuries, as well as newly commissioned music.
This is the 34th year the ensemble is offering its holiday concert. This year’s is called Harpy Holidays: Music of the Season for Harp & Chorus. It will features Camille Saint-Saëns’ Oratorio de Noël (Christmas Oratorio), with a quintet of vocal soloists, organ, harp and string quartet joining the ensemble, conducted by David Gilson. In addition, they’ll perform settings by arranger Jackson Berkey of four carols, and music by Herbert Fromm and Yoni Fogelman to honor Hanukkah.
The concert takes place at First Baptist Church of Greater Cleveland in Shaker Heights, and is of course free. It will also be livestreamed here.
