Steve Presser’s toy shop for all ages, Big Fun, was a staple on Cleveland Heights Coventry Road for three decades before the landlord forced him out in 2018. Somehow, nothing ever filled the space, and Presser hosted pop-up holiday shops there in 2023 and 2024, promising last year he was done with that.
However, he had started looking for a space where he could just be a vendor and not the operators, and something came up in another now-empty space on Coventry that once held a beloved business; the old Record Revolution site. So he will be in that space for the holiday, along with four other vendors where he’ll take half the space to focus primarily on vintage Cleveland-related items. Among the things he’s promising to have are Hough Bakery boxes and bags, T-shirts and posters with Frank Gerhy’s Progressive Building on the CWRU campus, and items from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Cleveland Zoo, as well as old bumper stickers, posters and backstage passes from the ’80s and ’90s.
The other four vendors, we’re told, will be selling plants, baked goods, vegan dog treats, and essential oils and candles.
The shop is open Monday through Saturday noon-7pm, and Sunday noon-6pm through Sunday January 11, except for Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. It will be open from noon-4pm on Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
