Les Delices Free Concerts Feature Traditional Ballads, Jig and Reels

Sat 9/13 @ 2PM

Mon 9/15 @ 7:30PM

Tue 9/16 @ 7PM

Cleveland chamber music ensemble Les Délices will be debuting a new program called “O’er the Hills and Far Away” with a series of three free performances. The program mingles 18th century Scottish ballad tunes with songs of the Great Lakes and the Ohio-Erie Canal including ballads, jigs and reels, spotlighting how this music traveled across the Atlantic and got a toehold in various regions of the U.S., including the Cuyahoga Valley, in the late18th and early 19th centuries. Performing musicians include baritone Tyler Duncan, violinist Shelby Yamin, cellist Rebecca Landell, guitarist Brian Kay, and the ensemble’s artistic director Debra Nagy on oboe and recorders.

They’ll perform the program on Saturday September 13 at the Cleveland Public Library’s main branch downtown; continue on Monday September 15 at Lorain County Community College, and finish on Tuesday September 16 at Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s Happy Days Lodge where there’ll be a pre-concert talk at 6pm.
