Jazz Singer Ellie Martin Brings Her Brand-New Album to the BOP STOP

Thu 5/14 @ 7-9PM

Jazz singer/composer Ellie Martin may not be from Cleveland but she’s a rust belt gal with a master’s degree in jazz voice performance from the University of Toledo and a PhD in Jazz Studies from the University of Pittsburgh. She’s studied with noted jazz vocalists Geri Allen and Jon Hendricks. She released her debut album Verdant in 2023 to enthusiastic reviews, and has just dropped her second, called Morning Glories.

According to the promotion for the album, it’s about “the profound journey of motherhood—the joys, the challenges, and the transformation it brings. The songs, we’re told, reflect “exhaustion and resilience, self-discovery, and the delicate balance of sacrifice and joy.”

She’ll be performing those songs at the BOP STOP, with her quartet, which features Ariel Kasler on piano and guitar; Kurt Krahnke on bass; and Olman Piedra on drums.
