Street Activity Will Be in Full Bloom at Walkabout Tremont

Fri 6/9 @ 5-9PM

The monthly Walkabout Tremont will be in full flower this month with lovely June weather — mild temperatures and no rain in the forecast. So there’ll be a lot going on outside, as well as in the local eateries and drinkeries (which offer specials for the event), galleries and shops.

Once again, Professor Avenue will be lined with pop-up vendors selling crafts, artwork, food and more, and there’ll be a ton of entertainment on the street including Crooked River Circus, the Tribe Ostara Tribal Belly Dancers, musicals David Bays and Jeff Powers, and Guinness Book record holder Dr U.R. Awesome with his giant bubbles which kids love to chase up and down the street.

For art, drop in at Kaiser Gallery and Cocktail Bar where photographer/mixed-media artist Jamie M. Richey’s show, Common Thread: Contradictions, Questions, and Lies We Live By will have its opening reception from 6-10pm, and you can enjoy a specialty cocktail while you look. Across the street 818 Studios will have an Art Shop, whereto can browse an shop the work of 26 local artists; it will be open for all Walkabouts during the summer.

Stop in Visible Voice books to hear live music from Kevin Sloan, or the Hi and Dry where Emma Nichols will be performing. And St. John Cantius Church will be open for tours — it’s worth stopping in just to ogle the lavish interior.
