Cleveland Pop Diva Chayla Hope Releases Her Debut Album on Vinyl

Fri 6/9 @ 8PM

Cleveland vocalist Chayla Hope was known as the leader/vocalist/keyboard player for the soaring, symphonic local indie rock group Seafair in the early/mid 2010s, when they were red-hot and in demand for every major event.

Despite area music lovers’ hopes for their greater success, they fizzled out soon after releasing their 2015 full-length album The Querenica, and never seemed to recapture their momentum. But in the last few years, the charismatic Hope reinvented herself as a solo artist in the last few years, building on the band’s reputation while heading in a somewhat surprising new direction: she’s now a platinum-blonde pop diva with heavily styled looks, at once glamorous and edgy.

Last year she began sharing samples of her new musical direction, releasing several highly produced, beat-heavy singles: the bubbly “Love in Lo-Fi,” “Falling,” which draws heavily on 80s and 90s synth pop, and the vibrant, dance-ready “High” which comes with its own brand of rolling papers.  The single “Falling” was mixed by Josh Gudwin, who’s also done work for Justin Bieber, to give some idea of the league she’s hoping to play in.

Hope’s full-length album, Damn, Feelings, came out later in 2022 on all streaming services. But now, as she promised, it’s coming out on vinyl, pressed by Hope’s old employer, Cleveland’s Gotta Groove Records. And if you go to her website, she has an array of colorful vinyl options available. She’ll be celebrating the vinyl release with a show at the Beachland Ballroom The Ghost Club and Kyle Mahlik open.
