Summit Metro Parks Hosts Native Plant Festival

Sat 5/20 @ 10AM-4PM

All of a sudden it seems like native plants are the hottest thing going with native plant sales everywhere. And Summit Metro Parks is celebrating them with their Native Plant Festival taking place at Munroe Falls Metro Park (521S S. River Road) this Saturday May 20.

There’s good reason to landscape with native plants. They’ve evolved to support the local ecosystem, its insects, pollinators and wildlife. While not all non-native plants are invasive and a menace to that ecosystem, native plants are best adapted to it.

The festival will feature an educational program about the role these plants play in our habitat, and offer a variety of plants for sale from nearly a dozen nurseries and growers. You can sign up for Summit Metro Parks’ Grow a Wild Back Yard program and take in the live entertainment.  Thre will be plant-themed merchandise and food available for sale as well, and visitors will get a free plant while supplies last

It’s free and open to all. Get more information here.
