Twenty-three-year old Elise Trouw is a California-based singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist who learned piano as a child and then added drums to her list of skills, honing them through participation in the School of Rock and her high school jazz ensemble. She built a fan base on social media, and now she performs as a solo artist, looping her own playing, which is certainly a great way to be able to afford to tour. She demonstrates how much an artist can accomplish on their own without a lot of music industry machinery behind them, although of course she’s attracting that now.
She’ll be stopping at the Hppy Dog in Gordon Square on her Losing Sleep tour, on an off-night for music, a Tuesday, where she’ll be headlining a bill with Cleveland’s Kid Tigrrr, the “sparkly ethereal” solo singer/songwriter project of Jenna Fournier of the band Niights.
