Anyone who’s ever heard timbales player Sammy DeLeon in any of his configurations, ranging from a duo to a big band with a full horn section, knows that he plays ebullient music (with a huge smile!) that doesn’t leave many people sitting down. Born in Lorain, he channels the energy, warmth and electricity of his Puerto Rican cultural heritage through his Latin Jazz ensembles.

He’ll be leading a sextet when he performs at Market Garden Brewery n the Ohio City Room downstairs. Of course, pianist Jackie Warren will be there — he seldom performs without this skilled, vibrant treasure on keys. The band will be rounded out by percussionist Ray Guzman, bassist Elmer Arocho, trumpet player Scott McGee and sax player Chris Burge, all experienced players with strong chops.

Admission is $15.
