Former NE Ohioan, Roots Rock Musician Florence Dore, Returns to the Beachland

Sun 3/26 @ 7:30PM

Americana/roots rock singer/songwriter/guitarist Florence Dore hails from Nashville and lives in North Carolina, where she’s a tenured professor of English and comparative literature (and teaches a songwriting course!) at the University of North Carolina, with an impressive academic record. She’s written three books that combine her interests in music, literature and culture, and last year she released a new album called Highways and Rocketships, which features top-notch musicians such as her husband, Steve Earle drummer Will Rigby, Peter Holsapple of the dbs and Son Volt’s Mark Spencer and was produced by indie rock legends Don Dixon and Mitch Easter. Her twin careers as a musician and a literary academic cross-fertilize each other.

Over the years, the Beachland has been a clubhouse for talented women musicians inspired by American roots music. What makes Dore stand out is that she spent several years in northeast Ohio where she was teaching at Kent State University, giving her a following in and ties to this area. Go here for tickets.
