Panel Looks at SPACES’ Exhibit at Upcoming Venice Biennale Archittectura

Wed 2/1 @ 7:30 PM

Recently it was announced that Cleveland’s nonprofit artist-focused gallery SPACES was chosen from a competitive process to curate the U.S. Pavilion at the Venice Biennale Archittectura, taking place May 20-November 26, 2023 with exhibits from as many as 75 countries. It shines a huge spotlight on the Cleveland art scene, with Cleveland artists Lauren Yeager one of those chosen to exhibit.

The theme for its contribution is Everlasting Plastics, looking at how plastics impact the environment and the economy and ways in which they can be shifted into other forms and uses. Yeager’s photographer and sculpture centers on found objects, many of them plastic.

The Happy Dog and the City Club will host a forum at the Happy Dig on Everlasting Plastics, with Jennifer Coleman of the Gund Foundation moderating. Panelists include Yeager, SPACES’ executive director Tizziana Baldenbro, moCa curator Lauren Leving, and Dr. Andrea Wolk Rager, associate professor in the Case Western Reserve Department of Art History and Art.

The panel is free. You can register here, although it’s not absolutely required.
