Talespinner Children’s Theatre Show Reflects the Small Wonders of Childhood

Sat 12/3-Sun 12/18

The 1962 children’s book The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats has remained popular for decades because it describes in simple words and pictures a child’s thrill on waking up to find that the world has been transformed overnight by snowfall.

It would be pretty thin material for a whole stage production. So when Cleveland’s Talespinner Children’s Theatre presents a show based on the book, it will incorporate other equally charming books by Keats, adapted to the stage by Jerome Hairston that look at similar childhood experiences including learning to whistle or anticipating a birthday. As usual, the Talespinner production is multi-disciplinary incorporating music, dance and puppets.

The show runs every Saturday @ 1 and 4pm and Sunday at 3pm from December 3-18 at the Reinberger Auditorium in the Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood.  It will be American Sign Language-interpreted on Sunday December 18. Suggested tickets prices are $8 for kids, $15 for adults, but all shows are pay-what-you-choose to ensure that all kids have the opportunity to see live theater. They just request that you reserve the seats ahead of time. Go here to do so and to purchase tickets.
