Shepard Records

Emma Shepard’s parents are stalwarts in the Akron music scene. Her mother, Tracey Thomas, a talented singer & songwriter, was the city’s hot new wave chick in the ’80s and has released numerous solo records since. Her father, Scott Shepard, owns Akron’s Time Traveler Records, an independent record store, which has been in business for more than four decades.

Emma combines their talents: she’s a musician herself (she currently performs with the band Suitor) and, in 2022, she opened an indie record store, Shepard Records, on the west side of Cleveland. While Time Traveler has a focus on vintage vinyl, Shepard Records focuses more on the current artists and the artists who influenced them and offers a DIY space for underground shows.

They’re open Wed-Thu @ noon-5pm, Fri-Sat @ noon-6pm at 9712 Madison Avenue in Cleveland’s Cudell neighborhood.
