Cyclists Ride to Feed the Hungry at Bike Cleveland’s Cranksgiving

Sat 11/19 @ 11AM-2PM

Cranksgiving is one of Bike Cleveland’s annual “cyclists give back” events, where each year bike riders gather at a central location and then ride to area groceries to pick up food for those in need.

This year they’ll be gathering at Goldhorn Brewery, where maps showing the way to nearby groceries and shopping lists will be distributed, along with coffee and donuts. Riders then take off on their own (or with their friends) to gather up however much they choose. Return to Goldhorn with your food between 1:30-1:45pm for a 2pm closing program and the traditional group photo.

While there’s no fee to participate, riders generally spend about $15. Everything must be carried by bike in some sort of attachment — no cheating and handing it off to someone in a car!

All ages and skill levels are welcome, and you can go to as many or as few groceries as you can handle in rides of up to 15 miles. You can also bring additional non-perishable items from your own pantry or organize a food drive among your friends. If you can’t make it, food and cash donations can be made at Joy Machines Bike Shop. More info here.
