October 11 is the Deadline to Register to Vote on November 8

Tue 10/11

Over the years I’ve heard people say, “I don’t like to get involved in politics.”

That’s too bad, because you ARE involved, whether you choose to be or not. But if you choose not to be, then you’re allowing others to make decisions that impact your life in major ways.

If you consider yourself a patriotic American, a good citizen or just someone who cares about their family, friends and community, then you need to be registered to vote and you need to show up for every election  — otherwise you’re just blowing smoke. And why there have been politicians — including some in Ohio — who have tried to suppress voters participation by making registering (and voting) more complicated, it’s really not that hard.

The deadline to register to vote this November 8 — in an election that could literally decide whether the U.S. is still a democracy or whether it’s a fascist state, with an extremist minority controlling every aspect of our private lives whether we agree or not — is Tuesday October 11. You can register to vote or update your registration if you’ve moved at the Secretary of State’s website. If you are already registered, it’s a good idea to check to make sure — this secretary of state has been purge-happy. It’s also a good idea to check the location of your polling place, because many have been changed — another voter suppression tactic.

If you don’t register and don’t vote, we don’t want to hear you whine when you don’t like the things our officeholders are doing.
