Eclectic NYC Ensemble Plays University of Akron’s Concert Series

Tue 10/11 @ 7:30PM

New York City-based chamber trio Empire Wild has an unusual lineup of instruments: two of its members, Ken Kubota and Mitch Lyon, play cello, while the third member, Holly Bean plays piano and sings. All three were classically trained at New York’s famed Juilliard School but they draw on a wide range of influences to come together to create music that crosses genre lines, incorporating folk, jazz and pop, among other styles. They’ve released a debut EP called Paper Sessions that features their original compositions.

Akron’s Tuesday Musical Association is bringing the ensemble to the University of Akron’s Guzzetta Recital Hall as part of the Kulas Concert Series. Tickets are $12 general admission, free for students with ID. For information, call 330-972-8301 or email concerts@uakron.edu.
