Congresswoman Shontel Brown Hosts Legacy Celebration Honoring her Predecessors

Fri 10/7 @ 6-9PM

Ohio 11’s new congresswoman (in office less than a year) Shontel Brown has been kicking some ass in D.C., working with colleagues to pass progressive legislation that really helps her constituents in a fraught atmosphere where Republicans really really REALLY do not want to do that. (Florida Senator Rick Scott just voted against sending hurricane disaster aid to his own state as did most Florida GOP congresspeople.)

Brown is now hosting what she called a “Legacy Celebration,” honoring her illustrious predecessors in the job: Louis Stokes (1969-1999), Stephanie Tubbs Jones (1999-2008) and Marcia Fudge (2008-2021).

It takes place in the Atrium of the downtown Convention Center. Attendees are asked to wear black, not in mourning, but as a sign of elegance and Black pride in these four African-American congresspersons. It’s free, but you should register here.
