Take a Guided Tour of the FRONT Outdoor Installation in Quincy Garden

Sat 9/24 @ 1-2PM

The time to see the FRONT International Triennial exhibits scattered around northeast Ohio is winding down (it closes October 2) so take advantage of as much of their special programming as you can.

For instance, this Saturday, you can tour the outdoor part of Abigail DeVille’s The Dream Keeper, part of which is also currently on view at the Sculpture Center. DeVille partnered with Fairfax residents for the installation in Quincy Garden, and this Saturday, the Sculpture Center’s director Grace Chin will lead a guided tour of it. In addition, two Fairfax residents/activists, Robert Render III and Dione Thomas Carmichel, will read poems by Langston Hughes from his 1923 The Dream Keeper and Other Poems, which inspired DeVille’s exhibit as well as the title of the current edition of FRONT “Oh, Gods of Dust and Rainbows.” Both are lifelong Fairfax residents, whose faces appear in the installation, and Hughes lived in the community when he was in high school.

People attending the tour are invited to share their favorite Hughes poems in the garden following the tour. It’s free and open to all.
