Oktoberfest to Take Over Downtown Kent

Sat 9/24 @ noon-10PM

It’s not quite October yet, but the Oktoberfests are rolling out fast and furious.

This weekend, it’s the Main Street Kent Oktoberfest in partnership with Platform Beer Co. The event will sprawl along Franklin Avenue from Erie Street to Main Street and include West Main Street from Water Street to the tracks and the Hometown Bank Plaza, a lot of territory for revelry.

Local eateries, including Erie Street Kitchen, Ray’s Place, Taproot Catering, Popped!, Pierogi Lady, Daisy Pops and Dom’s Wood Fired Pies, will be on the street, selling German-style foods as well as other items such as popcorn and caramel apples. There’ll be three beer trucks with beers and various seasonal beverages and commemorative plastic beer pitchers will be available for purchase.

And yes, there’s entertainment as well. The Mike Wojtila Trio will be playing polka music @ noon-3pm, followed by local bands Memphis Cradle @ 3:30pm, City of Invention @ 5:30pm and That 8s Band @ 8pm. At 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30 pm, the German Family Society Youth Group dancers will offer a selection of their dances with audience participation invited at their final demo.
