Cleveland-based baroque chamber orchestra Les Delices opens its 2022-23 season with a program called “The Highland Lassie,” which it says “evokes the wild and rugged beauty of Scotland’s heathered hills.” It’s based on Scots songs and reels from 17th and 18th century sources, songs such as the traditional folk tune “Barbara Allen” and poet Robert Burns “A Red, Red Rose.”
Singing the tunes will be soprano Elena Mullins, a seasoned early music performer who’s frequently performed with Les Delices.
They’ll be at Canton’s Christ Presbyterian Church Friday September 23 @ 7pm; at Dunham Tavern in Cleveland’s MidTown district on Saturday September 24 at 4 and 7:30pm; and at Firelands Presbyterian Church in Port Clinton on Sunday September 25 @ 3pm. Go here for tickets.
