Boston-Based Balourdet String Quartet Opens Rocky River Chamber Music Series

Mon 9/26 @ 7:30PM

The long-running (64 years!) Rocky River Chamber Music Society kicks off another series of its free, Monday night shows at West Shore Unitarian-Universalist Church.

The first concert of the season features the Boston-based Balourdet Quartet. They’re currently the quartet-in-residence at the New England Conservatory’s Professional String Quartet Program. They’re very young as such quartet go (it’s not unusual for big-name quartets to have been in existence for 40 or 50 ears, with members changes, of course), founded in 2018 at Rice University in Houston. The members are young too, most currently pursuing advanced degrees. Last year, they won top prize at both the Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition and the Premio Paolo Borciani in Reggio Emilia, Italy. They won’t several gold medals the previous years as well.

The quartet includes violinists Angela Bae and Justin DeFilippis, violist Benjamin Zannoni and cellist Russell Houston.

If you still don’t feel comfortable in a group, you can watch the concert on YouTube; the link will go live at 7:15 for the 7:30 concert. Click here to watch. While the concert is free, they definitely welcome donations!
