SoCal Folk-Rockers The Riverside Return to Riverdog Barn

Fri 8/12 @ 7:30PM

Southern California band The Riverside is well on its way to becoming regulars at Lorain County’s Riverdog Barn, returning this weekend for the third time.

Like so many folksy, rootsy duos, this is another husband-and-wife team, featuring Jake Jeanson on guitar, percussion and vocals and his wife Lorien on mandolin and vocals. They met in college where Jake was already playing with a band, and soon they were fronting the ensemble together.

But they don’t hit the road alone; they draw on their circle of musical friends to provide support. Currently they’re backed by a band that includes James Page on standup bass, Chase Fierro on fiddle, Trey Lindsley on banjo and vocals, and Kristen Posey on cello and vocals. The result is a sound that’s intimate, yet full-bodied, citing classic folk rock acts such as the Eagles, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, and Credence Clearwater as well as contemporary indie acts such as Fleet Foxes and Mandolin Orange as influences. The group has released six albums including, most recently, Mythos and Petralate last year.

Doors open at 6pm for the 7:30 pm show. As usual you can bring a picnic basket and cooler and make an evening of it in the beautiful outdoor setting. Tickets are $22. Get them here.
