Graffiti HeArt Hosts Two Legends of Street Art

Fri 8/12 @ 6PM

Sat 8/13 @ 6:30PM

Cleveland nonprofit Graffiti HeArt is dedicated to the promotion of street-style art and support for the artists who create it. They provide scholarships for young artists and commissioned jobs for working artists, and they’ve brought in noted national/international graffiti artists, such as Beau Stanton and WRDSMTH to make work and interact with the local community.

Now they’re bringing in two of the legends of graffiti art, Parisian artist Blek le Rat, an influence on street-art superstar Banksy, and TAKI 183, who was active in New York City in the late 60s and early 70s, one of the city’s first graffiti artists. According to Graffiti HeArt, this will be the first time the two have ever met or collaborated on a project.

Blek le Rat will also be creating several murals at locations around town, and collaborating with TAKI 183 on a piece at the Graffiti HeArt gallery.

Graffiti HeArt will be hosting a VIP event on Friday August 12 with food, drinks, a string quartet and the chance to meet the two artists. On Saturday August 13 the Blek-TAKI Live event will give the general public the opportunity to see them.
