Movies at Home Explores First Ever Full-Length Animated Film, Snow White

Thu 7/7 @ 7PM

The Music Theater Project’s monthly Movies at Home discussion features a truly historical film this month: the first full-length animated film, Walt Disney’s 1937 Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Cynics sneered and said it couldn’t be done: the amount of work that went into it in the pre-computer era was just too daunting, they said. Eight writers worked on the script based on a Grimm’s fairytale while 750 people overall worked for three years on the movie.

Here’s the drill: first watch the YouTube intro by TMTP artistic director Bill Rudman, in which he’ll talk about some of the astonishing effects and how they were created. Then watch the film available to buy or rent on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Vudu, YouTube and Google Play.

Then join Bill on Zoom on Thursday evening to chat about what you saw. No registration is required; it’s free to join the discussion here.
