Patriotic “Salute to America” Is back at Blossom

Sun 7/3-Mon 7/4 @ 8PM

Like clockwork every year, the Blossom Festival Band returns to Blossom Music Center under the baton of conductor Loras John Schissler for the annual Salute to America, just in time for the Fourth of July.

After all these years, you pretty much know what to expect: some Sousa marches, some patriotic songs, some popular Broadway tunes, an Armed Forces salute, and  of course, that great July 4 all-American standard, The 1812 Overture, written by  Russian composer Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky to commemorate Russia’s victory over Napoleon. Oh well, it goes well with fireworks, which are also on the program weather permitting.
