Kirtland’s SNPJ Farm Hosts All-Day/All-Evening Polka Blowout

Sat 5/21 @ 11AM-10PM

The SNPJ Farm in Kirtland, a mecca for Slovenian culture, is known for hosting polka parties all summer long. But it’s getting ahead of summer with one of its biggest events, the all-day/all-evening 2nd Annual Music Festival and Craft Show

Polka bands? They’re promising 16 of them, playing polkas and waltzes to keep the dance floor hopping. And as an extra special bonus, Steve Popovich Jr. and noted polka/country musician Joey Miskulin, who launched his career as a teenager playing with Polka King Frankie Yankovic, will be on hand to introduce a new Yankovic CD reissue on Popovich’s Cleveland International Records. He’s re-launched the label, founded by his father Steve Sr., who had a legendary passion for polka and especially for Yankovic, a Clevelander whose successful career included two million-selling hits in the late 40s.

If you get worn out from all that dancing, you can browse the craft show from 11am-5pm, fortify yourself with food from food trucks and sausage vendors or put a little spring in your step with a sip of wine. Cornhole and balina courts will be open for play, and there’s even a playground for the kids.

Admission is $10 in advance, $15 at the gate. Heads up: SNPJ is a cash-only venue. Contact Don Srnick for information at 440-283-9373 or srnicks@msn.com.
