Hilary Gent Showcases Her Water Paintings at HEDGE Gallery

Fri 5/20 @ 5-8PM

HEDGE Gallery owner Hilary Gent is a tireless promoter of Cleveland artists, representing a stable of the best and showing their work in her spacious gallery.

But she’s also a painter herself whose work since 2015 has explored the diverse properties of water, inspired by the changing patterns, looks and moods of Lake Erie.

“Touch, sound and sight conjure her personal connection with the lake’s surface, which she translates through the action of pouring and layering latex paint onto canvas,” says her artist statement. “Gent works while the canvas is horizontal, manipulating the paint to interpret the surface of water. Color palettes are inspired by the reflections of light and landscape on the water.”

So now it’s time for her to showcase herself.  Her exhibit of oil and late paintings, both her earlier work in this project and her recent works, called Walking on Water, goes on view at HEDGE Gallery Friday May 20 @ 58pm during Third Friday. You can also stop by the gallery that day from noon-5pm if you’d like a more leisurely look at the work.
