Ensemble Theatre Presents Staged Reading on New Work

Sat 5/21 @ 6PM

Cleveland Heights-based Ensemble Theatre appears to be going through a transition. While it wasn’t a casualty of the pandemic, it shapeshifted, giving up its former home in the Coventry PEACE campus building while (like many arts organizations) presenting virtual productions and events.

Now it’s returning to live performance in a “borrowed” space, Heights Arts, for its first in-person event since 2019. Ensemble’s artistic director Celeste Cosentino directs a staged reading of a new work In the Still of the Night, by Molly McFadden, which features a cast of four local actors. The script looks at the relationship between a woman who is homeless due to the pandemic and a cop who is trying to help her.

“They discover they have something in common as they try to find a way to exist on their own terms instead of the terms imposed on them by society. Their relationship is based on helping each other find a course to follow in their lives and as a result they discover that despite the age difference they just might have a reason for living and succeed in moving forward to do just that…..cross the finish line of life,” says the plot description.

The reading is free, but donations are welcome. Seating is limited and is first come/first serve. You can reserve a spot by emailing tickets@ensemble-theatre.org with your full name and the number of reservations you need.
