Cinco De Mayo, a minor holiday in Mexico, has been recreated in the U.S. as a sort of extra, Latin-flavored St. Patrick’s Day for bars to make money on.
Akron Civic Theatre’s Knight Stage is hosting a Cinco de Mayo show that makes even less sense, but is likely to be fun anyway. It’s offering a performance by Havana-born, Cleveland-based guitarist Justo Saborit and his band Havana Nights. In his many decades in the Cleveland music scene, Saborit has played jazz, R&B, Latin music and even rock & roll. But he is not Mexican!
Doors open at 7pm for appetizers and drinks; food and one drink ticket are included in the ticket price of $35. Music starts at 7:30pm.
