Watch Near West Theatre’s 2021 Benefit Online at Home

Fri 1/28-Sun 1/30

Let’s say you’d like to support local arts groups but going somewhere … not quite ready. It’s cold outside and maybe there’s still snow in your driveway. COVID is still out there. And you really just feel like hunkering down on your sofa with a warm drink.

Now’s your chance to support one of the city’s most distinctive theaters from the comfort of that sofa. Near West Theatre in Gordon Square, with its mission to present high-quality theater with casts that combine skilled and novice performers, and people of all ages, races, ethnicities, gender identities, social-economic statuses and more, hosted a benefit last year called “Bring On Tomorrow.”

The event celebrated the theater’s 40-plus-year history, its founder Stephanie Morrison Hrbek and its early leaders, its new leadership team creating its future, Gordon Square Arts District drivers James Levin, Judi Feniger, Joy Roller and Carrie Carpenter; it featured highlights from its 2019-2020 season and newly created musical numbers.

Now you can screen the event at home this weekend only at whatever time suits you. Money raised goes to help the theater get through to the end of the pandemic Go here to buy tickets for a suggested price of $15, but of course you are welcome to donate more to further this theater’s unique mission.
