John Mitterholzer is the Gund Foundation’s program director for climate and environmental justice. He was Ohio’s only civil-sector delegate at the U.N.’s Climate Change Conference (COP26) last fall.

So who better to host an edition of the Happy Dog’s foreign affairs program called Happy Dog Takes on COP26? Mitterholzer says that if Ohio were a country it would be the 26th largest emitter of greenhouse gases in the world. And he knows Ohio has plenty of other climate impacts to worry about, such as the Lake Erie algae bloom that shut down Toledo’s water supply for three days in 2014, microplastics in our food, and more destructive climate change-driven storms.

He’ll talk about what Ohioans should do to play a role in addressing and mitigating these climate impacts and share ways we can make a difference. The program takes place at the Happy Dog and is free; attendees must have proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within the previous 24 hours. You can also listen to the program livestreamed via the City Club. Tweet questions to @TheCityClub or text 330-541-5794.
